I was lost in flatlands where the buffalo once roamed —
The Plains the Cree call Home —
And it was then that I watched my spirit soar.
A desire to be free moved through me;
“My heart belongs to thee!”
So cupped in my hand,
I held an ancestral past,
Nay, Desiring! –
This moment eternal would last.
“And would I cleanse my soul in your naked waters,”
I said, facing the Lakes on the West, a forgotten past to the East,
“Desire run free, Become The Valley!”
It was then that I flew out of my body,
Wings emanating like wild fires,
Taking me well beyond my sorrow and pine,
I gave a kiss to the Forever Sky
